Bakers these days are holding back frosting from wedding cakes for an exposed look that is popular with couples looking for a traditional wedding cake alternative. There's a naked cake for every celebration. The old saying, "It's what's on the inside that counts" certainly applies to this wedding cake trend: the naked cake. No, you don't have to blush at the sound of this dessert — we promise, this is one aspect of your wedding day where it's totally acceptable to be in the buff. Instead of frosting the outside of the cake with layers upon layers of fondant or buttercream, many bakers are increasing the filling between tiers and leave layers exposed, for a fresh (and delicious!) look. These naked concoctions are chic, sophisticated, and beautiful—not too sweet, but just sweet enough.
